ТO или ING? Какая разница?

Есть глаголы после которых используется только инфинитив (want/plan/decide/hope/expect/offer/need/promise/refuse/learn):
  • What do you want to do this evening?
  • It’s not very late. We don’t need to go home yet.
  • Tina has decided to sell her car.

И глаголы после которых используется только -ing (enjoy/mind/finish/suggest):
  • I don’t mind getting up early.
  • I enjoy dancing.
  • Sonia suggested going to the cinema.

Есть такие, которые допускают использование обоих вариантов (like/love/start/prefer/hate/begin/continue):
  • I like playing tennis. = I like to play tennis.
  • I prefer traveling by car. = I prefer to travel by car.
  • It started raining. = It started to rain.

Во всех трех случаях можно легко справиться с помощью «зубрежки».


 Главную сложность составляют глаголы которые не только допускают использование обоих вариантов, но и меняют в каждом случае значение.  К ним относятся — remember/forget/try/stop. 
Рассмотрим разницу на примере:
 1. Remember to lock the door. — Не забудь закрыть дверь. (В будущем)

I remember doing this hometask. — Я помню, что уже делала это задание (В прошлом)

2. Don’t forget to phone me. — Не забудь мне позвонить (В будущем)

I will never forget traveling to Brazil. — Никогда не забуду как я ездил в Бразилию. (В прошлом)

3. I know you don’t like porridge, but try to eat it up. (Попробуй съесть, может получится.)
If you want to lose weight you have to try eating less food. (Попробуйте есть меньше, может быть это поможет.)
В случае с глаголом try разница хорошо видна в прошедшем времени; если вам удалось совершить действие — значит используйте try doing, а если не удалось — try to do.
Например:
I tried moving the table to the window, but didn’t like it and moved it back. (Я попробовал передвинуть стол к окну, но мне не понравилось (как это выглядит) и я передвинул его обратно. — т.е. передвинуть стол получилось)

I tried to move the table, but it was too heavy. (Я попробовал передвинуть стол, но он был слишком тяжелый. — т.е. передвинуть стол не получилось)

4. She stopped to smoke. — Она остановилась чтобы выкурить сигарету.
She stopped smoking. — Она перестала курить.

Как осуществляется перевод в баллы для Cambridge exams?

Перевод в баллы для любого кембриджского экзамена начиная с KET можно выполнить с помощью конвертера. Для этого нужно посчитать количество правильных ответов, перевести это количество в % и затем внести это значение в конвертер. Например количество правильных ответов за письменную часть KET 55 из 60, переводим в % — получаем 90%, вносим в конвертер — итого 141, что соответствует уровню B1.
